At the request of senior officials within Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection, Maine’s Center for Disease Control, and the Maine Water Utilities Association, Jim Cohen agreed to serve as a volunteer spokesperson for the “YES on 3” campaign. Question 3 was a $3.4 million state bond issue for safe drinking water and wastewater treatment projects throughout the state. Jim was asked to take on this role because of his longtime work with water utilities and because officials within the Administration felt he would be a positive and effective spokesperson for the campaign. The bond issue passed by a few thousand votes.
