PORTLAND, ME (March 3, 2010) – The Campaign for Justice has completed its 2009 fundraising campaign for Maine’s low income legal service providers. Verrill Dana has long since been involved with this program, and continues to increase their commitment to its participants each year. Under the leadership of Roger Clement, Verrill Dana is first among the “Big 8” Portland firms in number of attorneys contributing to the Campaign (79), and second in participation ratio (91%).
What is the Campaign for Justice?
The Campaign was created in 2004 to increase access to justice for low-income and elderly Maine people. It is an annual, statewide fundraising effort within Maine's legal community on behalf of six civil legal aid providers:
• Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic
• Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project
• Legal Services for the Elderly
• Maine Equal Justice
• Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project
• Pine Tree Legal Assistance
The Campaign consolidated the individual fundraising efforts of each of these agencies into one annual request, ensuring that each has the funds necessary to continue to provide legal services to members of our community in need.
Verrill Dana is proud to support this important mission.
