News Five Attorneys Join Verrill Dana, LLP

PORTLAND, ME (September 18, 2006) - Five attorneys have joined the law firm of Verrill Dana, LLP.  Four will be resident in the firm’s Portland office: Wylie D. Hight, Charles M. Katz-Leavy, Gordon R. Smith and Anna R. Welch.  The fifth, Keith E. Glidden, will be resident in the firm’s Boston office. 

Wylie D. Hight has joined the firm as an Associate.  Hight received her law degree from the Boston University School of Law, where she was a member of the Public Interest Law Journal, and received her undergraduate degree, with Honors, from Brown University.  Hight served as an intern at Verrill Dana during the summer of 2005.

Charles M. Katz-Leavy has joined the firm as an Associate.  He received his law degree from Boston College Law School and is a cum laude graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University, where he was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.  Katz-Leavy was also an intern with Verrill Dana during the summer of 2005, and prior to that, served as a Student Legal Advocate at the Hale & Dorr Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School.

Gordon R. Smith has joined the firm as an Associate.  Smith received his degrees from Georgetown University Law Center and the University of California at Berkeley.  Smith also matriculated at the University of Paris I, La Sorbonne and the Institut de Touraine in Tours, France.  Smith served as an intern for the Economic Commission for Europe at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Anna R. Welch has joined the firm as an Associate.  She graduated summa cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law,  where she was awarded a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship with the U.S. Department of State.  Welch spent her year-long fellowship investigating water systems management and its impact on human rights in Peru.

Keith E. Glidden has joined the firm as an Associate.  Glidden graduated magna cum laude from the New England School of Law.  He received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  Glidden has served as a law clerk, for the Honorable Alexander H. Sands of the Massachusetts Land Court, and for the United States Environmental Protection Agency.  The Portland, Oregon Audubon Society has awarded Glidden for his active volunteerism on behalf of animal welfare.
