PORTLAND, ME (Januray 18, 2007) - Verrill Dana, LLP is pleased to announce that Scott D. Anderson, Brian L. Champion, John P. Giffune, Karen Kimball Hartford, Mary McQuillen and Valerie A. Wright have been named Partners in the firm. All are resident in the firm’s Portland office.
Mr. Anderson is a member of the firm’s Environmental Group. He counsels parties on compliance with environmental laws and represents parties in municipal land use proceedings involving subdivisions, site plan review and shoreland zoning. Mr. Anderson is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts , Amherst and received his J.D. from Boston College Law School .
Mr. Champion is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Group. He provides counsel to management on all employment-related issues. Mr. Champion’s experience with both labor and employment and with litigation extends to include matters relating specifically to the hospitality and tourism industry. Mr. Champion is a distinguished graduate of the University of Maine and received his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center .
Mr. Giffune is a member of the firm’s Construction Law and Litigation Groups. He has substantial experience representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals in litigation in the state and federal courts of Maine and Massachusetts , as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings. Mr. Giffune is a graduate of Syracuse University and received his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law.
Ms. Hartford is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group. Her practice includes advising employers, governmental entities and tax-exempt organizations with respect to design, compliance and administration of their employee benefit plans. Ms. Hartford is a graduate of Wesleyan University and received her J.D. from the University of Maine Law School.
Ms. McQuillen is a member of the Private Clients and Fiduciary Services Group where she concentrates on the representation of private foundations and other tax-exempt organizations as well as estate planning, trust and estate administration and representation of fiduciaries. Ms. McQuillen is a graduate of Smith College and received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
Ms. Wright is a member of the Litigation Group. Prior to joining the firm she was a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph A. DiClerico, Jr. in the United States District Court in New Hampshire . Ms. Wright is a graduate of Yale University and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
