Health Care Reform Response Team

The Verrill Dana Health Care Reform Response Team was formed to help employers, health care providers and insurance companies meet the challenges of, and identify the opportunities created by, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-152), which modified the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148). Together, these two new laws have made national health care reform a reality and affect a wide variety of organizations, both within and without the health care industry, in countless ways.

Health care reform will be implemented over a four year time frame, however many significant features of the new law will take effect in September 2010.  Therefore, business organizations from large non-profit hospitals to small employers must begin to assess the impact of these sweeping new laws now.  Our interdisciplinary team brings together attorneys with expertise in health care law, employee benefits, insurance and employment law with the goal of providing 360° advice to clients in the key areas affected by the law, including:

  • Medicare and Medicaid payments
  • Expansion of health coverage
  • Mandated health benefits
  • Quality improvement and cost efficiency measures
  • Disclosure and reporting requirements
  • Health plan design and administration
  • Clinical integration
  • Accountable Care Organizations

From small businesses eligible for a tax credit, to insurance companies facing new disclosure requirements and compensation limits, to non-profit hospitals and providers facing new quality measures and seeking status as accountable care organizations, to employers with self-funded or insured health plans – health care reform presents challenges and opportunities.  Look to Verrill Dana to help you respond to health care reform.
